How Do I Beat Stress?

Everyday we encounter stress that, over time, can take its toll on our health. Work deadlines, paying bills, family demands, distressing news on television or radio, conflict with a co-worker, sickness, exams, traffic jams... Do any of these sound familiar? Stress is a part of modern life – we cannot escape it. Generally, a small amount of stress can actually be good for us. Stress can help motivate us and can help us achieve things. Stress only becomes a problem when it continues for an extended period of time or is too intense. To maintain our health and vitality you must keep stress at a manageable level and deal with the symptoms of stress.

What is stress?

Stress is the body's way of responding to any kind of change or demand. It can be caused by both positive and negative events. When we face an acutely stressful situation our body deals with it through a coping mechanism known as the "Fight or Flight" response. The sympathetic nervous system mediates the "Fight or Flight" response; when our sympathetic nervous system is activated it releases stress hormones such as adrenaline. The"Fight or Flight" response is critical during emergency situations as it enhances a person’s ability to perform well under pressure. After an initial short burst of adrenaline, though, our nervous system quickly returns to its normal state, standing by to respond again when needed. This short term stress response is not usually a problem, it’s long term stress that we need to be wary of.

Long term stress is the worst

Ongoing stressful situations can produce long lasting stress. This continued pressure causes the nervous system to remain slightly activated, with stress hormones being continually produced over an extended period of time. It also triggers our adrenal glands to produce another stress hormone called cortisol. This can wear out the body's reserves, leaving a person feeling depleted or overwhelmed. Long term stress can affect both your body and your mind. People under significant stress can become tired, sick and unable to think clearly. Chronic stress can leave you feeling flat and tired. Ethical Nutrients has an exciting new product to help you combat the symptoms of long term stress.

Ethical Nutrients Super B Daily Stress Plus may Improve mental performance in stressed people and reduce stress related physical and mental fatigue.

Ginseng 5 Exhaustion Relief is a great product for those who feel flat and tired when stressed. Ethical Nutrients Ginseng 5 Exhaustion Relief is a fantastic formulation that contains five ginsengs – Siberian, Tienchi, Korean, Indian, and American. This combination of ginsengs can help you deal with the symptoms of stress when you are feeling exhausted and run down. This herbal formula can support the adrenal glands and give you more energy. Each ginseng supports your body during times of stress and has a unique effect: Siberian Ginseng invigorates and fortifies the body, assisting physical performance and work capacity while supporting adrenal function. Tienchi Ginseng has relaxing qualities and may assist stress, fatigue and low vitality. Korean Ginseng increases the body’s resistance to stress and enhances mental and physical capabilities. Indian Ginseng may improve cognitive functions and sleep patterns during stress. American Ginseng is a general tonic, that supports resistance to environmental stress and can help improve stamina.

Lifestyle stress-busters

These great natural medicines can help reduce the symptoms of stress. In addition to these supplements try some of these handy hints to keep stress to a manageable level:

Concentrate on increasing the activities in your life you enjoy – this may be spending Saturday afternoon painting or Tuesday night enjoying a movie at the cinema. Learn to think of challenges as opportunities and stressors as temporary problems, not disasters. Make goals and keep track of your progress. Let stress motivate you to reach your goals. Make time for relaxation and meditation. Meditation is one of the most popular techniques to achieve physical and mental relaxation. Take time to concentrate on your breathing.

How to put it all together to maintain our energy levels
